What are cookies?

Cookies are pieces of information that a website sends to your web browser when you visit a page. They may involve the sending of information between the website and your device and between the latter and other websites that operate on our behalf or privately, as set out in the website Privacy Notice. You can choose to receive a notification every time a cookie is sent, or to disable all cookies by changing your browser settings. However, if you disable cookies some of our services may not function properly and you will not be able to access some functions designed to optimize your browsing experience.

(For further information on cookies and their general functions, please visit an information website e.g. allaboutcookies.org).

Two macro-categories have been identified: "technical" cookies and "profiling" cookies.

Technical cookies

This website uses "technical" cookies for the sole purpose of "carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent that is strictly necessary for the provision by the provider of a digital service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user" (article 122(1) of the Code): they can be subdivided into navigation or session cookies, which guarantee the normal navigation and use of the website (allowing users, for example, to make a purchase or access restricted areas) and/or analytics cookies, similar to the technical cookies when used directly by the website provider to collect information, in aggregate form, about the number of users and how they visit the site, and/or feature cookies, enabling the user's navigation according to a series of criteria (e.g. language) selected in order to improve the service rendered to the same.

The use of "technical" cookies (session cookies whose values stored in the device's hard disk can be deleted: cookies can also be disabled by following the instructions provided in the main browsers, see below) is strictly limited to the transmission of session identifiers (in the form of random server-generated numbers) as necessary to enable users to explore the website securely. Session cookies can avoid resorting to IT techniques that may compromise the confidentiality of user navigation; moreover, these cookies prevent personal identification data from being acquired.

This website does not use any "profiling" cookies (designed to create profiles on the user, and used in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the same user while surfing the Internet.)

Third-party cookies

This website uses “third-party” cookies designed to receive cookies sent from different websites or web servers, on your device while browsing a website (information is stored on third-party premises): one example is the presence of "social plugins" for Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Linkedin (parts of the visited page generated directly by the above-mentioned websites and integrated within the host website page), whose use is intended for content sharing on the social media (the presence of these plugins entails the transmission of cookies from and to all third-party website: the management of information collected by "third parties" is regulated in accordance with the relevant notices, to which users are referred).
